Position Specific Description
This position is for a development, environmental, land use and zoning attorney with a minimum of three years of experience. Specifically, we are seeking an individual who is licensed in California and has worked with CEQA, the CEC, and development in general in California. Generally, the work includes (1) development work, including land use and zoning work, representing developers and builders at the local government, state and federal level, or (2) environmental legal work, including ESA, NEPA, Corps and other subjects. This background may include government, in-house, NGO or other relevant experience.
The attorney may also have experience in administrative law, representing clients in quasi-judicial hearings and administrative legal challenges, and appearing before commissions for development and other approvals. As NextEra is the largest builder of wind and solar power in the U.S., this role will require assisting developers and environmental service experts throughout the licensing and permitting process for large infrastructure projects, particularly wind and solar projects. The candidate will also handle compliance and enforcement issues for the company. The job will be focused on renewable development projects for NextEra.
The position can be based at our office in San Francisco or there is a possibility of work from home, with reporting to the San Francisco office, depending on the circumstance.
